I am invited to the IFAA closing ceremony in café Goed in Arnhem (Klarendalseweg 536, 6822 GZ Arnhem Tel: 026-321 21 21) on the 13th of December 2008. I am usually very sceptical about reading poetry before an audience but this sounds pretty good. It's the word 'international' that does it for me. There will be a whole day program in café Goed with multicultural food, music, poetry, storytelling and dance performances from around the world. IFAA 08 is an international multidisciplinary festival which will take place in Arnhem from the 7th to the 13th of December 2008. The theme of IFAA 08 is "Art, Migration and Identity". This theme is chosen as a starting point and base for creating an artist in residency, which will bring together Dutch artists, foreign artists living in Holland and international artists. This theme will also be carried out in the festival. The focus of the festival is on contemporary visual arts, but there is also education, film, music, culinary, performing arts, fashion, a symposium, literature and poetry. The festival is done in partnership with 18 regional Arts and cultural organizations, with the aim of creating an international platform for the Gelderland region (situated in the east of the Netherlands). More news follows later.
